Get it While it's Hot:  Northern Kentucky Real Estate for Sale

With its unique combination of Southern hospitality and urban proximity, Northern Kentucky is one of the hottest real estate markets in Greater Cincinnati.  This three-county region is home to many distinct communities; excellent public and private schools; great entertainment and shopping; top-notch parks and recreational opportunities; an economy that typically fares better than that of Cincinnati; and best of all, Northern Kentucky real estate listings for homes for sale are often priced significantly lower than those of Ohio communities.

Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties comprise the top corner of Kentucky's Golden Triangle, the area bracketed by Lexington and Louisville that is home to more than half the state's population and the bulk of its economic activity.  Boone County has long been the fastest-growing county in the state, with Kenton and Campbell not far behind.  With mortgage rates still low and residential real estate sales still a bargain, now is the perfect time to find the home of your dreams in Northern Kentucky.  As a resident and a REALTOR with more than 8 years of experience, Sandy Bakst is the partner you need to make your dream a reality.

Take a closer look at Northern Kentucky Real Estate for Sale and its many faces whether you're single, raising a family or looking forward to making the most of your retirement years, there's a Northern Kentucky neighborhood just for you.  When you've found right place, check out our Northern KY real estate listings of homes for sale today.

Living Right on the Riverfront

The nightlife, eclectic dining options, historical ambiance, diversity and proximity to downtown Cincinnati make the Northern KY riverfront cities of Covington, Newport and Bellevue perfect for single professionals and couples. Each has experienced a tremendous resurgence on both business and entertainment fronts in recent years, each offers a wide variety of housing choices and real estate listings for sale, and each requires very little commute to jobs with downtown-based companies like Procter & Gamble, Fifth Third Bank and Western-Southern Life.  And then there are those amazing views of the Cincinnati skyline.

Historic Covington's many unique neighborhoods come with homes for sale ranging from $50,000 starter residences to $1 million+ luxury houses and condos.  Architecture often dates to the past two centuries, creating charm and ambience that can't be found in the suburbs.  Mainstrasse National Register Historic District features about 800 buildings construc ted mostly between 1840 and 1877, representing Italianate, Richardsonian Romanesque and Queen Anne styles.  The commercial district of Mainstrasse is an entertainment hub, with many restaurants, bars and pubs; festivals like Oktoberfest; and regular events in Goebel Park.  Closer to the river you'll find Licking Riverside, also a National Register Historic District the oldest residential district in the city.  Its stately homes, amazing views and lovely park make it a wonderful place to live.  Close-knit Peaselburg harkens back to its German heritage with its sturdy, well-tended two-story brick homes and close-knit neighborhoods.

Newport's colorful history has resulted in tours commemorating the city's former links to the Mafia and celebrating its beloved Italian heritage.  Once a red-light district frequented by gangsters, today?s Newport features new development mixed with longstanding, well cared-for row houses.  Forward-thinking city leadership secured Newport's future with the development of attractions like the Newport Aquarium, Newport on the Levee and Hofbrauhaus, a sister establishment to the world-renowned location in Munich.  Southgate House offers live music and entertainment and attracts major talent from around the country.

Close-knit Bellevue has also enjoyed a strong revitalization effort, creating a vibrant community where creativity and people mix beautifully.  This Northern Kentucky community has a laid-back vibe with its eclectic Fairfield Avenue business district, where bistros and tea rooms adjoin yoga studios, bakeries and Schneider's Sweet Shop, home of the opera cream and the ice ball.  It's perfect for strolling and just steps away from well-built homes ranging from entry level to luxury.  Real estate listings of homes for sale range from entry level to fine living.

The Fabulous Family Life

A little further south on I-75 you'll find several communities long beloved by growing families.  With small, top-ranked school systems, beautiful architecture and recreational opportunities geared toward young people, this area has much to offer. These Northern KY cities list homes for sale in a range of price levels and styles.

Fort Mitchell, KY, is five miles outside downtown Cincinnati and is known for its tree-lined streets sheltering beautiful homes.  It's also noted for its award winning Beechwood Independent School System, one of the top-rated public schools in Kentucky and prized for its small size and innovative curriculum.  The city is also home to Blessed Sacrament parochial school.  Ft. Mitchell offers three city parks for its 8,000 residents.

Fort Thomas is home to Fort Thomas Independent School District, ranked as the highest performing Kentucky K-12 public school district for 15 years running and named one of the nation's top 25 school systems by Forbes.com.  Officially nicknamed "The City of Beautiful Homes", Ft. Thomas offers upscale neighborhoods with unique homes.  The Ft. Thomas downtown area is in the process of a revitalization effort that showcases restaurants, gathering places, fitness and yoga facilities, and more.  The annual 4th of July parade is just one example of the family-focused recreational opportunities to be found in this city of 16,000

Suburban Bliss:  Rolling Hills, Planned Communities, Golf Courses and Great Schools

At the southernmost tip of Northern Kentucky, you find Boone County with its rolling green hills, wide spaces and booming growth.  Homes for sale here include everything from modest, family-friendly ranches and split-levels, to the spectacular structures situated on the lush lawns of Triple Crown Country Club, and the room-to-roam farmhouses of sleepy-but-family-focused Walton, where the small independent school district is known for excellence.

The city of Florence is Boone County's seat and Northern Kentucky's largest city, with more than 27,000 residents within its limits.  A brand-new YMCA and beautiful parks like the Boone County Arboretum with its native plants, soccer and baseball fields, and miles of walking trails create havens for family time, fun and fitness.   The Florence Family Aquatic Center was also designed to cater to families, with a zero-entry splash park for little ones, water slides for thrillseekers and a lazy river for everyone.  Turfway Park offers horseracing, and the Florence Freedom minor league baseball team features not only great baseball, but also a playground for kids, fireworks after Friday night home games, and many special events throughout the summer.  The corridor surrounding the Florence Mall (with its famous water tower) is currently in redevelopment, with a Cinema De Luxe movie theater already in place.  Boone County Schools are the state's highest performing large school district.

Deeper into Boone County you'll find Union, where much recent residential and business development has occurred.  Luxurious planned communities with real estate listings for sale include Orleans and Triple Crown, which is built around the country club and extends into Richwood.  Union retains a small-town feel and still has the look of the farmland that preceded its development.  Farmers markets and pumpkin patches abound, but a new retail development that features a Kroger, Walgreens, public library, Graeter's ice cream, and more keep amenities close at hand.  Another development centered around a Target store is planned for the near future.

For more country living, visit Independence in the heart of Kenton County, where you'll find urban amenities in a rural setting.  Recognized by Forbes Magazine in 2007 as one of the top 100 fastest growing cities in the country, careful planning has allowed Independence to absorb growth while retaining its village feel.

We hope you enjoyed your tour of Northern Kentucky.  To find out more about real estate listings for homes for sale in these communities and more, contact Sandy Bakst at 513-315-9295 or sjb43@fuse.net.
